A Top Ten Buck taken in Juneau County

November 24th was a lucky day for a Milwaukee hunter near Lyndon Station.  His buck had a "green score" of 202 1/8, but the official score won't be know until the drying period is over.

Check out the photo and read the story by Peter Rebhahn, Juneau Star-Times
Milwaukee resident Robert Gramoll knew he’d shot a big buck when he pulled the trigger of his .30-06 about 2 p.m. Nov. 24.

But Gramoll wasn’t sure how big until he climbed out of his tree stand on private property near Lyndon Station and got close to his kill.

“I come up to it, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God!’” Gramoll said.

The 15-point rack on Gramoll’s deer is almost certainly a Juneau County record for a typical whitetail deer killed with a firearm and probably will rank among the 20 largest killed in Wisconsin, according to the man who will measure it for the record book.

A Flag flying for every fallen veteran

One man in Juneau County has started a project to make sure an American Flag flies at all cemeteries where a Veteran rests.  See this story from the Juneau County Star Times and then visit his Facebook Page if you'd like to help.
In May, a Vietnam War veteran found a disturbing sight that spurred him to action.

While visiting the Marion Town Cemetery on old Highway 71 between state Highway 82 and 26th Avenue near Mauston, Russell LaMarche, 65, noticed that the pole holding the American flag had snapped in half and the flag was torn and lying on the ground.

“I removed the flag for proper retirement,” LaMarche said. “It really aggravated me that veterans were buried there and no flag was flying in honor of all of those who served. There is a veteran named Rubin Rounds of the War of 1812, and Civil War veterans buried there.”
